Matrix and the Real world

Some times I imagine about a world like "The Matrix" from the movie "Matrix", which is just a illusion you live in, when what actually happens is these machines using your body to produce energy.Imagine what if we are actually in the Matrix.Some times I like to think about it this way because I want to break free from all these trivial responsibilities and really think through the real purpose of life.Is this what they call Nirvana?
      
I reluctantly some times think about the exact purpose of life.What are we here for? I know I sound like a Sadhu Santh.But it makes sense to think about it at some point in your life and not just live your life based on rules which are inherently human because every one is doing so.Is life about doing good, showing compassion, getting a job , eating healthy, getting married and just living it because the majority of us live it that way?

All right I know lot of great philosophers have thought through it for years but I like to ask myself the age old question of the purpose of life and where we are going.What if some body is playing God and we just puppets in their hands like in the Matrix? These are questions I am tormented with some times, but most of the time I am in the usual trance called life and like to be in it like every body else, since life is short and everybody wants to make the most out of it.
